Spring 2019 Shred Events: The Results

Together we saved so much paper from ending up in landfills. We also helped protect identity theft.

In April, we hosted four shred events at our Arnold, Swansea, Florissant and Webster Groves branches. At these events, members could bring in as many sensitive paper documents as they needed to destroy/recycle – all for free!

Thank you to American Document Destruction for partnering with us, and thank you to the employees who gave up their Saturday mornings to help staff the events.

The results:

  • Florissant: 6,200 pounds
  • Webster Groves: 5,400 pounds
  • Arnold: 7,500 pounds
  • Swansea: 800 pounds

This spring, we destroyed/recycled a total of 19,900 pounds of paper!

Over a decade of shred events!

This is the 11th consecutive year we’ve held paper shred events at our branches for members and local businesses. Through your participation, we have collected close to 255,000 pounds of paper! Having all of it recycled has helped to conserve natural resources, save energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and keep landfill space free for other types of trash that can’t be recycled.

Even more shred events

If you missed our spring shred events, you still have a chance to come to our fall ones.

  • Webster Groves: Saturday, September 7
  • Florissant: Saturday, September 7
  • Arnold: Saturday, September 14

You can also view a list of cooperative credit union shred days. Note that if you are visiting another credit union, there is a limit of five boxes of paper per vehicle.

Electronics recycling events

If you have old electronic devices collecting dust in your home, don’t throw them away! We’ll be holding two electronics recycling events this summer:

  • Florissant: Saturday, June 15
  • Arnold: Saturday, June 22
