Shred your paper documents for free at Arsenal this September

You still have a chance to properly destroy and recycle your sensitive paper documents this year.

You know all of that “junk mail” you receive? If you’re just throwing it away, someone could use it to steal your identity.

Instead of taking a chance by throwing it in the trash, come to one of our shred events this September to properly dispose of your “junk mail” and other sensitive paper documents. Not only will you be keeping your personal information safe, you’ll also help save all of that paper from ending up in a landfill.

We’re holding a total of three shred events in September

  • Webster Groves (Mid County): Saturday, Sept. 7
  • Florissant (North County): Saturday, Sept. 7
  • Arnold (Jefferson County): Saturday, Sept. 14

All shred events take place from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Feel free to bring as many documents as you want (within reason). This is a community event, so tell any friends and family who may be interested.

We will not be accepting electronic waste at this event. Our next eRecycling events will take place in the summer of 2020.

Set up a reminder on Facebook

RSVP on Facebook to receive reminders about your shred event.

Here’s what to bring to our shred events

  • Old tax returns (if they include tax-deductible charitable donations, tuition costs, business or medical expenses, keep for seven years)
  • Pay stubs and reconciled account statements
  • Loan documents (after loans are paid in full)
  • Cancelled and voided checks
  • Paid utility bills
  • Expired insurance policies
  • Items with your signature
  • Credit card offers

You can also bring old magazines, newspapers and promotional mail pieces to shred. If you have any unused copy paper or construction paper, try donating it to a local school before bringing it to one of our shred events.

For help deciding how long you should keep your documents, here’s some advice from the National Endowment for Financial Education.

We’re partnering with American Document Destruction

Not only does American Document Destruction (ADD) partner with us on our shred events, they take care of all of Arsenal’s office shredding needs.

ADD is a local business AAA certified by the National Association for Information Destruction. Staff will shred all of your documents on-site so that none of your information becomes compromised.
