Meet our 2021 Arsenal Community Impact Fund recipients

Last year, we introduced the Arsenal Community Impact Fund to help local charitable organizations apply for grants so that they could continue the good work they do in the community. This year, we continued to help fund organizations that make a difference and hope to have an even bigger impact.

More about the Arsenal Community Impact Fund

In 2020, we introduced this program to help alleviate some of the financial, volunteer and organizational efforts that are often challenging for nonprofits. Arsenal wanted to have a bigger impact on the communities we serve and those who are struggling or just need assistance. We were honored to award $10,300 in grant money to six deserving organizations.

This year, we wanted to make an even bigger impact and awarded $14,000 to eight deserving organizations. This program was specially designed to help local nonprofits apply for the funds they need in the form of grants and help less fortunate members of the community in the special ways that their organizations are equipped to do.

Meet our 2021 grant recipients:

The Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club aims to educate the community about the importance of breast health. It also provides support services to breast cancer survivors, distributes bras and breast prostheses to women who can’t afford them, offers monthly supports groups, supplies comfort kits to women going through chemotherapy and more.

This grant from Arsenal will help support this program. Arsenal will also continue to host mammography vans at some of our branches and provide comfort bags for The Breakfast Club to distribute.

Jefferson County Pet Food Pantry

This organization provides pet food, education and assistance in accessing services to low-income families, senior citizens, veterans, people with disabilities and people experiencing homelessness in Jefferson County to ensure their companion animals never go hungry or suffer. The grant will provide food and veterinary services.

Disability Resource Association

Disability Resource Association provides advocacy, information, peer support and independent living skills training to those in need. The grant will help cover their summer youth class offered to teens with any disability in Jefferson County. It will also help provide simulated driver education training.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois

This chapter of the national organization will use the grant to provide welcome kits for children entering into the program. It will help children living in the St. Clair, Madison, Monroe and Clinton counties of Illinois.

Arnold Food Pantry

The mission of this organization is to provide food for those in need. It serves more than 12,000 people a year and helps other organizations do the same. The grant will help ease food insecurity. Arsenal will also hold a toiletry drive and donate items collected to the food pantry.

American Red Cross of Greater St. Louis

The Red Cross provides care, compassion and emergency needs when disasters strike. While there are many divisions of the Red Cross, this grant money will go to help families that have been impacted by disaster.

Love Like Jackson

Love like Jackson provides resources to families that have experienced child loss. The grant funds will help fund a project that the organization has established, providing “buddy benches” to local elementary schools. Buddy benches encourage students to invite other students to play if they see them sitting on the buddy bench, so they won’t feel left out.

Women in Vision

This organization empowers women in leadership and character building through its professional network training forums and conferences. It is committed to restoring family values and furthering economic growth in our communities. Arsenal will provide a grant to help fund the organization’s conference.
