If you use Arsenal’s online + mobile banking service, you have the option to increase your account security with two-factor authentication (2FA). Traditionally, 2FA will send a code to you by email, text or voice call to authenticate that it’s you accessing your account.

Having email, text or voice as a 2FA option is safer than having no 2FA at all. But there are many tactics scammers use to steal your codes and gain access to your information.

For the highest level of account security, we recommend downloading a 2FA app to access your Arsenal accounts (and any accounts that allow you to use them). A 2FA app gives you an extra layer of security to help keep hackers and scammers at bay.

Download a 2FA app

The most-trusted 2FA apps come from some of the biggest names in tech. The best part about them is they’re free to download.

  • Google Authenticator
  • Duo Mobile
  • Microsoft Authenticator
  • Twilio Authy

There are many more 2FA apps you can explore and test for yourself. We won’t include links on our website to these apps, but you can find them easily on Google Play or the Apple App Store.

Note: Arsenal Credit Union does not endorse any third-party apps. Please review the linked apps to find out which one fits your needs the best.

How do you set up an authenticator app?

Every account that you have with a different app, financial institution or organization may have a different set up for a 2FA app. We’ll show you how to set up your app in our online + mobile banking service.

  • In the main menu of your online or mobile banking account, navigate to Arsenal Credit Union > Settings > Security.
  • On this page, scroll down to the section titled “Two-Factor Authentication” and enable the 2FA APP option.
  • From here, you’ll be presented with a QR code. Open your 2FA app and scan the code. Follow the prompts from your app to finish setting up your security setting.

Each time that a 2FA code is required to access a part on online + mobile banking, your app will send you a six-digit code to enter.

You can set up your 2FA app as your preferred authentication method if you like. You can also set up a 2FA for each account login attempt if you prefer.
