Through a partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines), two local veteran-focused nonprofits are receiving meaningful support to continue their important work.
The Kaufman Fund and Veterans Community Project have each been awarded a $20,000 grant through the Member Impact Fund, a matching grant program designed to help FHLB Des Moines member institutions make a greater difference in the communities they serve.

The Kaufman Fund
How much was awarded? $20,000
Where are they located? Creve Coeur, Missouri
What’s their mission? The Kaufman Fund supports veterans, military families and at-risk children through different programs and resources. Their goal is to assist veterans in need with food, shelter, clothing, medical care and more.
What will they use the grant for? The grant will be used to improve the lives of veterans and their families in need through food assistance, mental health resources, scholarships, shelter and other essential resources.
Veterans Community Project
How much was awarded? $20,000
Where are they located? St. Louis, Missouri
What’s their mission? Veteran Community Project of St. Louis works to end veteran homelessness by providing tiny homes and supportive services.
What will they use the grant for? The grant will be used to purchase supplies for the tiny homes and to build the homes. On top of housing, funds will be used to connect veterans with employment assistance resources, benefits navigation and other critical support services.
