On Saturdays, April 26 and May 3, we held two community recycling events at the Arnold Rec Center for paper shredding and electronics recycling. In addition to destroying sensitive documents and recycling old electronics, our members donated a total of $1,050 to help fight food insecurity.

More than 900 cars full of attendees donated spare change and loose bills, collected by Arsenal volunteers. All funds were matched by us up to $1,000, and a donation of $2,050 was made to Gateway Food Pantry (2024 Key West Drive, Arnold, MO).

“Thank you to Arsenal Credit Union for continuing to invest in our community. Without partners like you, we wouldn’t be able to fulfill our mission and distribute 1 million pounds of food assistance to our community each year,” said Patrick McKelvey, Gateway Food Pantry’s executive director.

How much did our members recycle this year?

For our paper shred event on April 26, members disposed of 21,600 pounds of paper documents. This translates to $55,900.80 in total eco-friendly savings for the community. Thank you to ProShred Document Shredding Services for partnering with us for this event.

For our electronics recycling event held on May 3, members disposed of 9,044 pounds of obsolete electronics. Thank you to Midwest Recycling Center for partnering with us for this event.

If you missed the spring shred event, we’ll be holding another during the fall at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Center on Saturday, Oct. 18. Stay tuned for more details.
